Fitness Center

With the help of a substantial State of Illinois Grant obtained through the efforts of our Development Office and State Representative, Joel Brunsvold, District 41 opened its new 13,000 square foot, state of the art Fitness Center adjacent to the West side of Rock Island High School.
Nearly 6,000 square feet of the facility is devoted to strength training. Students may participate in the "Bigger-Faster-Stronger" program designed for the serious athlete and experienced lifter and accomplished primarily with "free weights" lifts. (Red colored equipment).

Members of our athletic teams have supervised access to the facility before, during, and after school.
Students also have the option to participate in the National School Fitness Foundation Program, designed for beginning lifters and the general student body.  This program is used throughout the school day by physical education classes and before and after school by athletic teams.  It is accomplished primarily using "Universal" selectric equipment. (White colored Equipment)
The center also features a cardiovascular area used for warm-up, fitness exercise, and injury rehabilitation.
Approximately 6000 square feet of the facility is devoted to an open multi-purpose area used for aerobic exercise, dance, and numerous other activities.
