Marc Polite - 
Head Varsity Coach 
  

Coach Polite just finished his second season with the Rock Island Boys Basketball program.  He led the Rocks to back to back regional championships and 20+ win seasons.  Coach Polite is no stranger to Quad City Basketball, serving as Head Coach at both United Township and Davenport North High School.  Coach Polite has regional, sectional, sub-state, state and NCAA Tournament appearances on his coaching resume.  He also has experience coaching at all levels of amateur basketball including NCAA Division 1 (Eastern Illinois, Florida Gulf Coast), Division 2 (Florida Gulf Coast) and Junior College (Black Hawk).  His last stop was Davenport North High School where he turned around a program with 1 winning season in 15 years and took them to the state tournament in his first year.  In his 2 years at North, the Wildcats were state ranked and posted a 29-14 record.  Known for connecting with coaches and players, Coach Polite is recognized as a "Program Builder" who loves working with all students in the district.  

Coach Polite was born in Rock Island and spent his early childhood in the Rock Island School District.  He graduated from United Township and went on to play 4 years of Division 1 basketball at Eastern Illinois University.  As 4 year starter, Coach Polite was an all-conference player and still is one of the top 20 scorers in school history.  He also holds records at Eastern Illinois and the Ohio Valley Conference.  Coach Polite received his bachelors and masters degree from Eastern serving as a graduate assistant after his playing career.  He is currently employed as a teacher at Rock Island High School.

Damon Colvin
 - Assistant Varsity Coach
  

Coach Colvin just finished his 20th year as a basketball coach at Rocky. He was instrumental in introducing the freshmen to our high school basketball program and developing them for the future as the head freshman coach. Coach Colvin just finished his 3rd year as varsity assistant after assisting at the sophomore level for 13 years. He has also been an instrumental part of one freshmen conference championship and 10 sophomore conference championships in the last thirteen years.
   He has coached in the YMCA league, RIMBA, and at Horace Mann Choice School. He has also been very active coaching baseball for Little League, Rock Island Red Sox, and RIHS. Coach Colvin is a 1994 graduate of Rocky and received his Bachelor Degree in Management from the University of Phoenix.
 Coach Colvin is the Branch Manager at CBI Bank & Trust in Davenport, IA and is an Ordained Minister at the Second Baptist Church in Rock Island.  He and his wife Chantill have one daughter, Chanel (15).

Marquis Rodgers - Assistant Varsity Coach

Coach Rodgers enters his 3rd year in the Rock Island program. He is a 2005 graduate of Rock Island High School where he played basketball. He continued his career at Greenville & Benedictine University where he eventually joined Head Coach Keith Bunkenburg's coaching staff. He graduated from Benedictine University in 2001.
 Coach Rodgers has coached the Future Rocks 8th grade feeder program the last two years and is excited about joining the high school staff. He is employed as a US Academic Business Development Manager for CompTIA, in Downers Grove, IL and resides in Rock Island.

Demetriyone Singleton - Head Sophomore Coach

Coach Demetriyone Singleton enters his 2nd year as Rock Island Boys Basketball Sophomore Head Coach. After graduating from United Township High School in 2010. Singleton attended Clarke University in Dubuque, IA where he ran collegiate track and received his bachelor’s degree in Social Welfare. He later went back to school to get his Master’s degree in Special Education from Western Illinois University of The Quad Cities to become a teacher. Before coming to Rock Island Singleton coached at United Township High School for 6 years where he held multiple positions. He is currently holding multiple positions at Rock Island High School as a Special Education Teacher, Basketball, and Assistant Track Coach. He and his wife (Shavonne) have a beautiful daughter De’Aysha (2). 

Eric West - Assistant Sophomore Coach

Coach Eric West enters his 1st season as Rock Island Boys assistant sophomore coach.  Originally from the mighty Suburban North conference in St. Louis county where he was an all conference performer and 4 year letterman at McClure North High School, Eric went on to play at Eastern Illinois University.  At EIU he was a key contributor to the first NCAA Tournament team in school history.  While at EIU he earned his degree in Sociology in addition to a minor in Business Administration.  His coaching career consists of assisting and training with the late great Wayne McClain and 4 time state champion Peoria Manual and has been playing/coaching at all levels for over 30 years.  Coach West says joining the staff at Rocky was perfect timing and one of the best opportunities in this area.  Coach West was most recently employed at Black Hawk Area Special Education managing the STEP program.  He has two sons Tristen (20) and Cameron (19)

Paris Dothard
 - Head Freshman Coach
  

Coach Dothard enters his 4th year in the Rock Island program.  He is a 2007 graduate of Rock Island High School.  He attended Lincoln College on a scholarship in Track & Field before enlisting in the U.S. Army where he received a Honorable Discharge after 6 years of active-duty service.  Coach Dothard previously served as an assistant sophomore coach for two seasons before moving to the Freshman Head position.  He is currently employed as a Team Leader at John Deere Davenport Works.  He and his wife Ashley have five children, Howard (11), Heavyn (8), Jaiden (5), Josiah (2), Jordan (Infant). 

Brian Maiden - Assistant Freshman Coach

Brian graduated from Rock Island High School in 2005 where he played Basketball. After graduation he attended St. Ambrose University where he played basketball. Brian began his coaching career while at St. Ambrose with the feeder program in Rock Island. Since 2008 Brian has coached 3rd-8th grade boys and girls basketball mostly with the Rock Island Rocks program with a few other stops along the way. He is currently employed as a Senior Logistics Coordinator at Nestle Purina in Davenport, IA. He has 2 children, Bryson (13) and Gabriella (11).
