WInter Sports Recap

The winter season was packed with incredible performances from our student-athletes across all sports. Here’s a look back at the highlights from each team.

Girls Basketball: The girls' basketball team finished the season with a 16-14 record, placing 3rd in the Western Big Six with a 9-5 conference mark. They made an impressive run to the UTHS Regional Championship, narrowly falling to #1 Peoria Richwoods 52-48. Standout performers included KaZaria Bell and Makaya Curry, both earning Honorable Mention All-WB6 honors, while Jimara Combs was named 1st Team All-WB6 and received All-State 4A Honorable Mention recognition.

Boys Basketball: The boys' basketball team had a remarkable season, finishing 28-5 overall and 13-1 in the Western Big Six, earning a share of the conference championship. They were runner-up at the State Farm Holiday Classic and were ranked as high as 9th during the season. All-Conference honors went to Deven Marshall, Arthur Abbey, and Lawson Zulu (1st Team), with Avian Thomas earning Honorable Mention. This season tied last year’s mark for the second-most wins in 30 years.

Competitive Cheerleading: The competitive cheer team dominated this season with first-place finishes at the Knoxville Invitational and Sterling Showdown, along with a strong second-place finish at the Normal West Cheer Invite.

Boys Wrestling: The boys wrestling team finished 8-1 overall and 6-1 in the Western Big Six, placing 2nd in both the conference and regional tournaments. The team produced three state qualifiers, two alternates, one Elite 8 finish, and an All-State 4th place medal.

Girls Wrestling: The girls' wrestling team went 5-3 overall and finished 2nd in the WB6 Conference Tournament. The team celebrated a State Champion and one additional state qualifier this season.

Girls Bowling: The team finished 5-5, with one bowler earning 2nd Team All-Conference honors.

Boys Bowling: The Rocky boys had an outstanding season, winning 14 of 15 dual matches. Tournament highlights included a first-place finish at the Dixon HS Toughman Invite and a team victory at Regionals, where three Rocky bowlers finished in the top four individually, with Zayden Morris taking 1st place. Following Regionals, the team was ranked 15th in the state. Freshman Chase Terry emerged as the top bowler in the Quad Cities.

Boys Swimming: The boys' swimming team finished the season 1-5, placing 4th in the conference and 5th of 13 at sectionals. The team boasted two state qualifiers and celebrated the Conference Player of the Year.
