Rock Island High School officially celebrated the opening of its new School Health Link clinic, marking an important milestone in the Rock Island-Milan School District's commitment to supporting the health and well-being of scholars. Located inside Rock Island High School, the new clinic expands access to convenient, high-quality healthcare for scholars and their families through a partnership with School Health Link.
The clinic provides preventive and acute medical care, referrals, and other health-related services for children and adolescents. By bringing healthcare directly into the school setting, the partnership helps remove barriers that can prevent scholars from receiving timely care while supporting attendance, wellness, and academic success.
"This is truly a great day, and I'm very appreciative to all of our staff who made it possible," said Superintendent Dr. Sharon Williams. "This is just another step in our journey toward making sure that access and care are available for all of our scholars."
Director of Student Services Alicia Sanders emphasized that the clinic represents much more than a new healthcare space.
"This partnership represents the kind of collaboration that strengthens our community – not only today, but for years to come," Sanders said. "Today we are not simply cutting a ribbon – we are opening a door to greater access, stronger partnerships, and healthier futures for our scholars and families."
The opening of the clinic reflects a collaborative effort across the district. Teams from Student Services, Technology, Human Resources, Maintenance, and Administration worked alongside School Health Link to prepare the clinic and ensure it is ready to serve scholars safely and efficiently.
Lindsey Leighty, School Health Link Supervisor, thanked the many community members whose support helped make the clinic a reality.
"We are incredibly grateful to donors, community partners, and organizations that believed in our mission and invested in what we are trying to accomplish," Leighty said.
The new clinic represents another step forward in the district's whole-child approach to education, ensuring scholars have greater access to the healthcare resources they need to be healthy, engaged, and ready to learn every day.
