Coach Hammer named one of the top 'up and coming coaches' by AFCA

The American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) has announced its selections for its 2021 35 Under 35 Coaches Leadership Institute.

This year's class was chosen from a field of over 150 high-quality applicants. The AFCA has named Rocky Head Football Coach Ben Hammer to its list of the top 35 under 35 up and coming coaches to look out for. Coach Hammer is one of three high school coaches to be honored.

"It is 100% an honor to be selected to the Leadership Institute but this recognition is much more of a reflection of our whole program. We have a staff of coaches that work really hard, love kids, and put them first in everything that they do. We have kids that care about each other and aren't afraid to put the team first. We have great leadership, including Mrs. Lillis, Principal Whitaker, and Dr. Lawrence. Our support staff is second to none from our Student Managers, our Equipment Manager, and our Athletic Trainer," said Coach Hammer.

The AFCA 35 Under 35 Coaches Leadership Institute is a prestigious program aimed at identifying and developing premier, future leaders in the football coaching profession.

Selected coaches are invited to attend a one-day institute that focuses on topics specifically tailored to emphasize leadership in the coaching profession, ethics, influential responsibilities, career progression, and family balance. Due to the 2021 convention being moved, the 2021 participants will get to take part in the program at the 2022 AFCA Convention.

Congratulations Coach Hammer!
