RIMSD#41 Hires New Athletic Director

On Tuesday, February 22, 2022, the Rock Island-Milan School District Board of Education approved the hire of Mike Emendorfer to be the Athletic Director for Rock Island High School.

 

Mike has 23 years of experience as a head football coach at the University of Wisconsin Platteville. He served three years of those years as Interim Athletic Director at the university.

 

During his career, he’s taken his team to the National NCAA Playoffs twice, been the universities’ All-Time Wins Leader, named WIAC Coach of the Year twice, and inducted into the Wisconsin Football Coaches Associations Hall of Fame in 2019.

 

Mike is a proven recruiter with experience at the state and private school levels. He is also committed to the academic and athletic success of student-athletes. While at UW-Platteville he implemented an academic support program that led to 60% of the team receiving a 3.0+ GPA.

 

“We are extremely excited to have Mike lead the Athletic Department. He has a tremendous skill set and we can't wait to see what he will bring to the school, coaches, players, and community,” said RIHS Principal Jeff Whitaker.

 

Mike is excited to move closer to family and get to work right away, “I believe that my successful experiences in teaching, coaching, and being administrator will make a valued impact within Rock Island-Milan School District,” said Mike.
