The boys' cross country team will compete at the IHSA 2A State Cross Country Meet in Peoria tomorrow. Rocky girls’ team members Mackenzie Meirhaeghe and Mary Stockdale also qualified as individuals for the State Meet.

 

But before they head off to State, the high school wanted to give them a special send-off. 

 

On, Friday, November 4, Rocky Cross Country runners and their families met in the auditorium where they received treats for the bus ride and congratulatory messages from staff. 

 

RIHS Athletic Director Mike Emendorfer told the student-athletes "This is a big deal. No matter the results of this weekend you should congratulate yourselves for all the hard work you have done that has earned yourself a spot at State. Soak this moment in."

 

Superintendent Dr. Lawrence and School Board Vice President Mike Matherly also gave a few remarks. 

 

After that, the RIHS Colorguard and band lead the team down the halls of Rocky where staff and family cheered them on.
